Jo Bramham-Smith Art

Hello, I’m Jo

Like all artists I express myself through my work. To me, colour and the way it interacts with the canvas and how people react to it is what is of prime importance.

I observe the world around me, take photos and make images. I use these images to abstract and create . The colour blue is always dominant in my work, no matter how I try not to allow that. The scenes and views I see and that are in my mind, form my abstract work .

I want my paintings to make viewers feel something, to feel they are elsewhere or feel emotion.

I constantly try to evolve my work, develop and change. I use many ways of making marks and often use my own print and mixed media Into my paintings. More recently I have been developing my mono printing to create abstract prints. The initial pull of an abstract print is thrilling in that it is planned but also often surprising in the results through the marks and textures of the many layers.

I always enjoy visiting places and I try to invoke the the sheer joy I get from visiting new places and learning about what happened and happens in them.

I love painting and I endeavour to share this love through my work.

I hope you enjoy looking at my work, I’m always looking for new places to exhibit and after running a gallery for years, I’m looking forward to travelling and making more paintings.
